IIT JAM Eligibility Criteria: IIT JAM is one of the greatest opportunities for all the candidates from the science background to study in IITs. By clearing this examination, candidates get the best colleges across the nation for studying engineering, medical or pharmacy. Candidates who have done graduation or are in the final year of their gradation they can apply for it. IIT JAM is an entrance examination which gets conducted each year successfully at various examination centers. By qualifying IIT JAM, candidates can further take admission in MSc or Ph.D. programs.

JAM – Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. is a national level examination which gets conducted for getting admission in MSc, PhD and Integrated PhD at well-known IITs such as Gandhinagar (IITGN), Guwahati (IITG), Hyderabad (IITH), Bhubaneswar, (IITBBS), Bombay (IITB), Delhi (IITD), Indore (IITI), Kanpur (IITK), Madras (IITM), Roorkee (IITR) and Ropar (IITRPR))Kharagpur (IITKgp). IIT JAM Eligibility Criteria

For M.Sc. – Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree (Geology) and any two subjects among Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biological Science Physics. Also, the candidate must have passed 12th with Math as a mandatory subject.

M.Sc. in IITB –Candidate must have passed graduation with both Mathematics and Physics for two years and at least one out of these two for three years.

M.Sc. Biotechnology in IITB and IITR – Candidates must have done graduation degree in any of these (Science, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Veterinary, Engineering, and Medicine) branches.

M.Sc. Chemistry in IITG, IITK, IITB, IITD, IITM, and IITR) – Candidate must have done a graduate degree with chemistry and also candidate must have passed 12th with mathematics.

M.Sc. Mathematics in IITB, IITD, IITK, and IITM – Candidate must have done graduation with Math as a subject for minimum of two years or four semesters.

M.Sc. Physics in IITB, IITD, IITG, IITK, IITM, and IITR) or Joint M.Sc. /Ph.D. (Physics) in IITK –Candidate must have done graduation with Physics for minimum of two years/ four semesters and also must have done graduation with math for at least one year or two semesters.

Joint M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geophysics at IITK – Candidate must have done graduation with any two subjects from Physics, Mathematics and Geology minimum 3 years and 6 semesters.

M.Sc or Ph.D. (Dual Degree) in IITB – Candidate must be a graduate in any one of these subjects Physics, Chemistry and Math for a minimum two years and four semesters.

Eligibility Criteria at Glance

  • Candidates must have done Bachelor’s degree (In science field) from a well-known) university.
  • Candidates who are graduate via distance studies, they can also apply for this examination.
  • Candidates who belong to General or OBC category they must have gone graduation with at least 55% of marks however candidates who belong to a reserved category, they need to be passed via 50% of marks.
  • Both Indian candidates and Foreign candidates may apply for JAM
  • Those candidates are appeared or are due to appear in the qualifying degree’s examination in current year are also eligible.

    Myself pradnya wanaskar, i have completed my btech (civil) and Mtech (geotechnical engineering) from government college of engg Amravati..And i had mathematics for 3 semister in Btech and for 1 semister in Mtech. Now i want to take addmission for MSC Maths in iit for that i have to give IIT JAM entrance… am i eligible for IIT JAM ?

  4. Sir I am studying physiology Hons with pass subjects as zoology and chemistry. Can I appear in jam for admissionin IISc for biologycal science??? Can I appear after completing 2nd yr instead of completion of 3 yr degree??!? Then what would be the criteria????

  11. hi. i am a student of kirorimal college, university of delhi. i shall be appearing jam physics 2019. my gpa as of now is 5.77(agg. of 1st and 2nd semesters) so im a bit confused. how can i check that whether or not im eligible for the exam? how should i convert my gpa into percentage ? pl help me out?

  13. I appeared in IIT JAM 2017. I studied with the Eduncle study material. It was help me a lot in my preparations. I have also taken previous year question papers from Eduncle .
