JEE Advanced 2017 Eligibility Criteria, Registration, Exam Pattern

JEE Advanced examination is conducted to provide admission to eligible candidates in various Bachelor’s degree, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-master Dual Degree in Engineering, Science, Architecture or Pharmaceuticals in IITs and ISM. JEE Advanced is a 2nd stage examination of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The interested candidates can attempt this examination for 2 consecutive times. The applications are invited from interested candidates all over India and abroad as well.

Registration will starts from last week of April 2017
Downloading of admit cards will starts from 2nd week of May 2017
Examination date of JEE Advanced (paper I & II) last week of May 2017

 

Online publication of ORS & scanned responses 1st week of June 2017
Release of answer key 1st week of June 2017
Candidates’ feedback on answer key 1st week of June 2017
Results declaration 2nd week of June 2017
Commencement of online registration of AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) 2nd week of June 2017

 

Examination date for AAT 3rd week of June 2017
Results declaration for AAT 3rd week of June 2017
Seats allotment will commence from 3rd week of June to 3rd week of July 2017

Registration process

The interested candidates are advised to check eligibility criteria be he/she start with application process. The candidates can complete their registration online from the official website of JEE Advanced. The registration process will starts most probably from last week of April. First of all the candidates need to create their account so that for further procedure they can activate their account by providing login details.

The registration fees for different category candidates are as follows-

For examination centre in India

  • For female candidates the fee will be Rs. 1000/-
  • For SC/St/PWD candidates the fee will be Rs. 1000/-
  • For All other candidates the fee will be Rs. 2000/-

For examination centre in Dubai

  • For all candidates fee will be Rs. USD 220

Reservation of seats

SC candidates 15%
ST candidates 7.5%
Foreign Nationals candidates 10%
Defense Services candidates 2%
OBC-NCL candidates 27%
PWD (in each of the open, OBC-NCL,SC & ST) candidates 3%

Eligibility criteria

  • The candidates must have qualified JEE Mains examination scoring minimum cut-off marks. Top 2 Lakh merit holder candidates from previous year JEE Main examination will be considered for JEE Advanced examination.
  • The candidates must have attained the specified age to apply for JEE Advanced examination. 5 years relaxation in age will be provided to SC/ST candidates.
  • The candidates qualified higher secondary examination 1st time with all subjects either in 2016 or 2017. If a candidates waiting for improvement in 2017 then he/she must have appeared the improvement examination in all the subjects.
  • The a candidate who has confirmed his/her seat in IIT or ISM but not yet joined the collage then he/she will not be eligible to apply. The candidate whose admission is cancelled will also not be eligible to apply. If a candidate has paid the seat acceptance fee but did not join after reporting then he/she will be eligible to apply.

AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test)

The candidates interested in B.Arch must have qualified AAT examination. Only JEE Advanced 2017 qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the test. To take part in AAT, the interested candidates have to register online on the official website of JEE Advanced. There will be only one paper and the duration will be 3 hours. The candidates scoring more than cut off marks will be considered as qualified on AAT. The candidates will get admissions on the basis of their rank achieved in JEE Advanced 2017.

Examination pattern

  • There will be 2 papers in JEE Advanced with duration of 3 hours for each paper. The appearing candidates have to attempt both the papers compulsorily.
  • There will be 3 sections in both the papers as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The question paper will have MCQ type questions and numerical type questions as well.
  • There will be a penalty of marks for some questions.
  • The question paper will be available both in English and Hindi.

Publication of ORS and answer key online

The JEE Advanced authority will provide the facility of ORS and answer key. The ORS of qualified candidates will be available along with machine-read responses. The answer key will be released very soon after the examination for both the papers. The candidates can cross check their answers by going through the answer key of JEE Advanced 2017.

Rank list

Rank list will be prepared on the basis of JEE Advance performance. The qualified candidates in both the papers of JEE Advance will be considered for ranking. If more than one candidate got same marks then the ranking will be done on the basis of marks scored in mathematics. If this policy does not work then the higher ranking will be provided to the candidate who scored more in Physics. If this policy also doesn’t work then the candidates will be allotted same rank.

  1. I have appeared for 12 exams and jee mains in 2016 and i have cleared jee mains . I want to appear for jee advance 2016. I wany to know that if i appear in advance 2016 and a collage is being alloted to me, and i want to improve my scores by dropping a year, will i be eligible for jee main and advance 2017?

    My son has passed isc board class12 exam 2016 and he got 69.5 percentage mark and in jee main 2016 he score 44 marks . And now my son want to give again jee main in 2017 and he wants to take addmission in IIT or NIT but in news i have heard that for jee advance and jee main in 2017 the elligible critteria for giving exam wiil be 75 percentage marks from class 12 (2016) so can you please confirm me that is it correct or not what wiil be the elligibility criteria .

    • If he is from bihar board then, 75% is not required because 69% is above top 20 percentile in bihar board… ☺

  5. sir i am getting 74 %in mah board so i am in top 20 percentile. i want to drop an year for jee. next year will i be eligible to write advanced on the fact that i have been in top 20 percentile in previous year.or i have to improve my boards to get above 75%score

  11. sir, I have passed my 12th boards in 2016 with 70% marks (bengal board). But failed to secure pass marks in chemistry. If I clear my chemistry exam in 2017 and secure 75% in aggregate. would I be able to seat for jee main 2017 ?

  12. Respected sir, i am vivek from maharashtra , i scored 136 in jee 2017 ,76% in hse but not qualified for jee advanced 2016 .I have decided to give jee advanced 2017,as well as jee mains 2017,what are the crutial eligibility criteria ?

    I have cleared IIT ADVANCE 2016 however I passed +2 in 2015 and improved my marks in 2016 i gave iit mains in 2015 bt not gave iit advance m I able for IIT ADV 2017 and When it was asked at the time of jee adv 2016 application then i filled that it is my 1st time for IIT ADVANCE…….

  17. I cleared my 12th in 2015,can I appear for IIT ADVANCE 2017.Im eligible for JEE MAINS 2017.its just i skipped a year 2016 due to some reasons.I gave JEE MAINS 2015….

  18. IS 50% aggregate in PCM is for all three subjects individually or their sum should be 50% for jEE main and Advanced.And i got 46 in maths, 76 in chemistry , 69 in pjysics, 89 in english and 94 in PE.and 75% in 12th Cbse.

    I just wanted to know, If a student is in Bsc. final year and his year of birth is after 1992.

    He/She can be appear in IIT-JEE exam for 2017 or not. If yes can you please provide m ethe link address where it is mentioned that a Bsc student can also appear in JEE if his age below then the age mentioned in eligibility criteria.

  20. Sir i passed 12th 2nd divison. From bseb in 2015 and attemped first time in jee mains (not qualified) … I improved my 12th in 2016 and got 64. 02% in Bseb and qualified jee mains 2016. And i gave jee advance 2016. … But no college. Is alloted to me now i want to know am i eligible for jee advance 2017 … Please tell me

I have a doubt about top 20 percentile . i gave my mhsc bosrd exam in year 2016 . according to jossa site i am getting 344 aggregate marks out of 500 . i am considering english, maths, physics, chemistry, and evs as 5th subject. Is evs taken in account for calculations if aggregate marks. I had computer as my 6th subject in which i scored 138. While i scored 47 in evs . pls tell me which subject will be considered as my fifth subject evs or cs? I am obc ncl candidate and it cuttoff in 2016 is 344. Will i fall in top 20 percentile.

There is one question in my mind related to JEE ..please i request to clear it………. i am a 12 passed student , is i am eligible for Jee? i appeared in 12 class in 2016…… Can i take Jee test in 2018?….. i know there are only 2 chances in life to clear this test …………….. can i eligible for this test after 2 years? ……It is my aim to take admission at IIT…….please reply me………….. your’s one reply can make my future………

    i am rohit. i had to leave my 12th exam to cause of sick in 2016 but i had also filled the form of jee mains in 2016 and i had also given this but jee advanced not. so now i am eligible to sit in jee advanced in 2017 and 2018 or only 2017 or both years. pls tell me pls
