Exam Pattern as per CDS Exam Syllabus

• The CDSE will be held in online mode.
• The applicants will have to use only the black/blue ball point pen to mark their answers.
• The applicants must have to carry their admit cards at the examination hall, without it they will not be allowed to write the examination.

Marking scheme for CDS

• The applicants will get 1 mark for each correct answer.
• There will be a penalty of 1/4^th marks for each wrong answer.

CDS Exam Syllabus

English syllabus- This section will test the applicants’ command over the English language. The topics to be covered under this section are unlimited. However, there are few common and important topics have been listed below to help the applicants to get prepared well for the examination. The topics are-

• Jumbled sentences
• Sentence correction
• Reading comprehension
• Fill in the blanks
• Finding errors & omissions etc. 

General knowledge- This section will test the applicants’ knowledge about current affairs. This section may also contain questions from Indian History, Geography, Politics, and Science, etc. To prepare for this section, the applicants are advised to make a habit of reading newspaper/editorials, magazines, watching new channels, etc. on a daily basis. This will increase their general knowledge. Some of the important topics that you need to prepare for this section are-

• Indian polity
• Books & authors name
• Indian economy
• Monuments of India
• Current happening in the sector of business, politics, sports, entertainment, etc.

Elementary Mathematics Syllabus- This section will have questions based on 10^th standard and will test applicants’ knowledge about basic concepts of Mathematics. The topics that you need to cover under this section are-

• Geometry- Loci, circles & its properties including tangents & normal, the concurrence of medians & altitudes, congruency of triangles, sides & triangles of a triangle, plane & plane figures, parallel lines, lines & angles, etc.
• Trigonometry- simple cases of height & distances simple trigonometry identities, cosine X & tangent X, Sine X.
• Statistic- Frequency polygons, pie & bar charts, graphical representation, tabulation of data, histograms.
• Arithmetic- application to simple & compound interest, unitary method, time & distance, elementary number theorems, fundamental operations, unitary methods, number system, etc.
• Algebra- set notation, set language, the relationship between coefficient & roots (only real roots to be considered), theory of polynomials, remainder theorem, linear equations, quadratic equations, basic operations etc.
• Mensuration- surface area & volume of spheres, circles & parallelograms, triangles, rectangles, calculation of areas of squares etc.
