IAS Application Form 2023: UPSC IAS Dates, Eligibility, Pattern

IAS Application Form 2023: UPSC conducts a Civil Service Exam to recruit eligible candidates for  Indian Administrative Services (IAS), IFS (Indian Foreign Services), IPS (Indian Police Services) & IRS (Indian Revenue Services). The examination completes in three phases: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Interviews. IAS Application Form will be available in the month of February. IAS Application Form 2023

UPSC Civil Services Online application process will be started on 1st February 2023. Interested candidates can apply online till 21st February 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

  • The candidate should be an Indian national or
  • A national of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire & Vietnam to become a permanent resident of India.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates having a degree from a central, state, or deemed university.
  • Those received degrees through correspondence or distance education or any open university.
  •  It must be recognized by the govt. of India as being equivalent to one of the above.

Note:- The below-mentioned applicants can also apply but they must submit the proof of their eligibility from a competent authority at their institute/university at the time of the main examination.

  • Candidates, who have qualified for the final exam of MBBS but, have not yet completed their internship.
  • The applicants who have qualified for the final exams of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), ICSI & ICWAI.
  • A degree from a private university.
  • A degree from any foreign university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.

Age Limits & Number of Attempts

  • The applicants must have aged between 21 and 32 years as on 1st August of the examination year.
  • This age limitation may vary from category to category.
  • For OBCs, the upper age limitation is 35 years.
  • For SC/ST, the upper age limitation is 37 years.
  • The upper age limitation is relaxed only for certain categories.

IAS Application Form 2023

The applicants need to visit the official website to fill out the application form also we will update here online application link after the release of the official notification. They are advised to check all the eligibility criteria before they start the application procedure.

Application fee details

The applicants will have to pay Rs. 100/- as application fee (SC/ST/PH/Female applicants are exempted from application fee). The application fee can be paid in online or offline mode.

  • Online mode– In online mode fees can be paid through net banking of SBI/State bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
  • Offline mode– In offline mode, the fee can be paid in cash at any branch of SBI. For offline mode, the applicants will have to take the printout of the system-generated challan during Part I registration.

How to fill out IAS Application Form 2023?

  • Log in to the official website of UPSC and search a link for “Application Form”.
  • Once you get the link, click on it and the application form window will be opened consisting of 2 stages of registration- part I & Part II.
  • You need to click on Part I registration & fill in all the details as required in the application form.
  • Once all the details are entered, you have to click on submit. On submission, a registration ID will be generated.
  • Now the applicants will have to proceed with Part II registration by using the registration ID generated during Part I registration.
  • Here you have to choose the examination you want to appear for.
  • Now upload the scanned images of your photograph & signature in the specified format.
  • Also, pay the application fee as mentioned on the website.
  • On successful completion of the application fee, the registration process will be completed.
  • The applicants can take down the printout of their online submitted application forms for future reference.

IAS 2023 Exam Pattern

  • Stages I– Preliminary Examination
  • Stage II– Main Examination
  • Stage III– Personal Interview

For Preliminary Exam

  • The exam will be conducted in offline mode.
  • The exam consisted of 3 papers and two compulsories, each paper with 200 Marks.
  • Each question will be a 1/3 Mark penalty for the wrong answer.

For Main Exam

  • The Mains exam will be conducted in Descriptive test mode.
  • It consists of 9 different papers and paper-1 & paper-2 are necessary for all.
  • The remaining will be optional subjects.

Personal interview

The main objective of this test is to assess the applicant’s personal suitability for a particular service. The board of competent will evaluate the applicants on their mental abilities, intellectual skills, social traits & interest in current affairs.

  2. Maine bcom3rd pass kar liya hai par bcom 2nd year clear nahi hui. Mere ‘golden chance’ ka case banta hai or university wale bol rahe hain ki ‘golden chance’ ka paper february ya march 2017 mein hoga. Toh kya main IAS ke form bhar sakti hu jiske paper 18 june 2017 ko hone hai???? Please reply. My future is at stake.

  4. sir ,i have completed my b.tech in civil engineering this year itself and i do want to apply for this exams…but my degree from the university,the main graduation degree is not yet issued to me as the convocation is not yet done and i only got is provisional certicate and a course completion certificate.and i wanted to know that i am eligible or not and about the speciific online registration date for the exams

    • Yeah ! You can apply for Civils but wait till feb 22nd 2017. After releasing notification go through official site of IAS (you need to upload your Photo,Sign & other details). All the best for you…

  7. i have done B.A. in pol+his+pub.ad in 3 year course but in ias application form there is not any option for simple B.A.but instead have options like ba in political science or ba in history etc. please tell me what should i fill in the form?

  29. HI.My daughter has completed BA from Yashwantrao Chavan Open University. She has done 1 year diploma after 10th. Hence She has gap after 10 th std to 12 th std. Inspite of 10+2+3. She has got degree in 6 years after 10th. Is there any problem to apply for IAS or is she eligible ?

  30. My son appeared for Civil Services exam a few years back. He has lost the roll number for that appearance. Will that be required if he wants to appear for the exam in the coming year? If so, is there any way to get the old roll number from UPSC?
