NATA 2017 Registration, Exam Date, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern & Exam Syllabus
NATA is an aptitude test that evaluates an applicant’s aptitude to study architecture. Every student who wishes to take admission in BArch. Course offered by reputed institution or college of architecture in India should take NATA, whether it is government aided or private unpaid.
NATA is conducted by Council of Architecture. It is an autonomous statutory body and is the final authority to set the norms for the architectural institutions. The required expertise holds the CAT examination in architecture at national level.
NATA 2017 Important Notice
NATA 2017 Examination will be conducted in offline mode (one day examination) on 16th April 2017.
NATA 2017 Registration process will be started from 2nd January 2017 till 29th January 2017.

NATA 2017 Registration

- Candidates must have completed their standard 10th or equivalent examination.
- For B.Arch programme, students should have passed standard 12th or equivalent exam with mathematics subject.
- There is no procedure of lateral admission in any stage/yr of B.Arch.
- NATA score card is valid for 2yrs from the yr of appearing.
The examination fee for NATA is Rs. 1000 including application fee and brochure. This amount has to be paid at the time of purchasing application.

NATA 2017 Exam Pattern
- Type of Exam: NATA exam pattern consists of 2 parts: Drawing test and aesthetic sensitivity test.
- Mode: The drawing test will be conducted via offline mode (pen and paper based) and aesthetic sensitivity test will be conducted via online mode (computer based test).
- Questions: The drawing test will include three questions.
- Duration: Two hours for drawing test.
- Questions: In aesthetic sensitivity test, candidates have to answer 40 objective type questions.
- Duration: To answer each question total 90 seconds are allotted in CBT mode.
- Negative Marking: No negative marking.
Exam Pattern of Drawing Test
The candidates wish to get admission in B.Arch course has to get at least 40% score in NATA (according to Council of Architecture Admission Guidelines).
Procedure of scoring for drawing test
There will be a panel of 3 examiners to review the answers of drawing test and the average of marks given by the 3 will be considered. The examiners will evaluate the candidate’s ability on drawing, imagination, observation, sense of proportion, perspective, color sense and composition.
Procedure of scoring for aesthetic sensitivity test
This is a computer based adaptive test and the difficulty level of the questions will be changed as per candidate’s ability level. When a candidate gives right answer then the next question will be difficult one, whereas a candidate gives wrong answer then the next question will be easier one. The final score will depend on the average difficulty level of all the questions and the given right answers. For example- a candidate attempting less right answers with higher difficulty questions may score more than a candidate attempting more right answers with less difficulty questions.
NATA 2017 Syllabus
The NATA test has been divided into two parts i.e. drawing test and aesthetic sensitivity test. The drawing test will judge the ability of candidate to sketch a given object, sense of perspective drawing, understanding of proportion and scale, etc. The aesthetic sensitivity test includes of Analytical reasoning, Architectural awareness, Mental Ability, Imaginative comprehension and expression, etc.
The candidates can check NATA results from the official website. The score card can be downloaded from the website by the fourth working day after the test. The original mark sheet can be retrieved by any admission authority directly from NATA server. The mark sheet uploaded from NATA server will only be considered, not the print outs etc. The candidates can use the print out only in case if it is required by the admission authority. The NATA 2017 score card will be valid up to 2 years from the date of last test taken.
