NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai) conduct a national level examination to offer admissions to eligible applicants in various UG & PG professional courses in the field of fashion technology & design field. To get final admissions applicants will have to go through written test, situation test, group discussions & at last personal interview. NIFT 2018: Important Dates

Commencement of Online Application 1st week of November 2017
Closing of Application Form Submission 2nd week of January 2018
Last date of online registration with late fee of Rs. 5000/- 3rd week of January 2018
Downloading of NIFT 2018 Admit Card 3rd week of January 2018
Exam Date 2nd week of February 2018

NIFT 2018 Application Form

  • The application forms will be available online at the official website of NIFT.
  • NIFT Application Form 2018 will be provided from the 1st week of November 2017
  • The applications will only be submitted through online mode. Any other mode of application will not be entertained.
  • The application fee of Rs. 1500/- (for General/OBC) & Rs. 750/- (For SC/ST/PHP) has to be paid to complete the registration process.
  • Candidates have to remit Rs-5000/-(which is a late fee) if they are filling the form after last date.
  • The application fee can be paid either through online payment gateways or through Demand Draft of any bank.
  • Take a print out of the successfully filled NIFT 2018 Application Form and keep it safely for future record.

Eligibility Criteria

For UG Programs

  • The applicants should have qualified higher secondary or equivalent examination from any recognized board.
  • The applicants who have passed 3-4 years Diploma recognized by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education can also apply for NIFT 2018.
  • The minimum age limit to apply for NIFT 2018 is 23 years as on 1st October 2018 for General category.
  • Age relaxation of 5 years will be given to SC/ST/PHP applicants.
  • Appearing applicants are also eligible to apply for NIFT 2018

For PG Programs

  • There is not age limitation to apply for master’s degree.
  • For M.Des & M.F.M programs, the applicants should have qualified a UG degree from any institution/university recognized by law in India.
  • For the M.Tech program, the applicants should have passed B.F.Tech from NIFT or B.E/B.Tech from any institution/university recognized by law in India.
  • The applicants appearing in qualifying exam can also apply for NIFT 2018.

Application Fee

  • For General/OBC: Rs-1500/-
  • For ST/SC: Rs-750/-
  • Mode of payment would be DR/CR card/Demand Draft.
  • Applicants who are remitting fee through DD were required to send a duly NIFT application form 2018 along with DD which is drawn in the favour of ‘NIFT HO’ payable in New Delhi to the below mentioned address.

Exam Pattern

  • The examination will be conducted through offline mode.
  • The examination will have 2 parts- GAT (General Ability Test) & CAT (Creative Ability Test).
  • There will be no penalty for wrong answers.
  • The question paper will be available only in English.
  • The duration of examination will be 2 hours.

NIFT 2018 Admit Card

  • NIFT 2018 Admit card will be issued only to the eligible candidates which have to be downloaded from the last week of January 2018.
  • It is to be noted that no Admit card will be sent to the candidate via post.
  • It is mandatory for the applicants to bring their Valid NIFT 2018 Admit card on the test center on the examination day.

NIFT 2018 Syllabus

For General Ability Test (GAT): The syllabus for B.Des & M.Des  will comprise from these various topics such as Quantitative Ability, English Comprehension, General Knowledge, Communication Ability, Analytical Ability & Current Affairs & for B.F.Tech, MFM, M.F.Tech will comprise of Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability & English Comprehension, Analytical & Logical Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs & Case Study.

For Creative Ability Test (CAT): For B.Des & M.Des tests the creative & innovative ability of the candidates in designing while Situation test for B.Des candidates will evaluate candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability. The GD round would comprise of a discussion on a case study.

NIFT 2018 Result

  • NIFT 2018 result will be disclosed in the end of May/June 2018 via online mode through the official site of NIFT.
  • The result of B.F.Tech will be developed on the basis of GAT only.
  • Des result will compose on the basis of GAT, CAT and Situation Test while M.Des result will be developed on the basis of GAT, CAT, GD/PI.
  • The final result of MFM and M.F.Tech will get announce on the basis of GAT and GD/PI.

NIFT 2018 Counselling

  • The counselling procedure will be released on the official portal of NIFT in the month of April/May 2018.
  • It is mandatory for the qualified candidates to participate in NIFT 2018 counselling to get admission.

NIFT Admission Procedure

The successful applicants of written examination will be shortlisted for Situation test/ Group Discussion/ Personal interview. The notification related to counselling & admission will be published at the official website of university. The applicants are advised to bring all the required documents along with their photocopies for counselling process.  After the allotment of seat the applicants have to report to the allotment NIFT campus within the specified date & time to complete the admission process.


NIFT 2018: Important Points

  • NIFT 2018 Application form will be released from the 1st week of November 2017 till 2nd week of January 2018.
  • Seats will be reserved for SC/ST/PBC/PHP/ Foreign Nationals/ SAARC/NRI/State domicile- 20% (supernumerary)
  • Remit the application fee via DR/CR Card/Demand Draft.
  • Admit Card will be issued to the candidates prior few days of the examination tentatively in the 3rd week of January 2018.
  • The NIFT 2018 Examination is scheduled to be held in the 2nd week of February 2018.
  • Only qualified candidates will be invited for the counselling process and it is mandatory for the qualifiers to attend the counselling session.
