IBPS PO Selection Procedure: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous agency in India that started in 1975 as Personnel Selection Services (PSS). IBPS became an independent entity at the behest of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Public Sector Banks in 1984. With a mission of enhancing human resource development through personal assessment, IBPS is envisioned as a self-governed academic and research-oriented Institute. IBPS announces every year’s positions in clerical, PO and SO posts in nationalized banks, State Bank and RRBs.

For the recruitment of Probationary Officer / Management Trainee in the public sector banks, IBPS will release the notification. The application form of IBPS PO will be released online. The exam will take place in two phases that is Preliminary and Main Examination. Eligible applicants who want to get appointed as PO in public sector banks need to fill the application form via online mode only.

Details of Different Stages

Online Preliminary Examination:

  • This is an objective type online examination.
  • In the first stage of recruitment, the candidates will have to appear in the written examination conducted by the IBPS.
  • The total marks of the exam will be of 100 marks.
  • On the basis of the performance in the Preliminary Exam, the candidates will be selected for the Main Exam of IBPS PO.
  • Three will be three sections in the exam namely English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.
  • By securing cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS, candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests.
  • An adequate number of candidates will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements.

Online Main Examination:

  • The candidates are allowed to appear for the Main examination of IBPS PO who will qualify the preliminary round.
  • Marks obtained in this examination are counted for the final merit list.
  • The exam will comprise of 200 marks consisting of 5 sections

English, Computer knowledge, General Awareness, Reasoning, and Quantitative.

  • The Candidates who qualify the Main Examination of IBPS PO 2017 will be called for Interview.
  • Scores up to two decimal points shall be taken for the purpose of calculations.
  • The corrected scores will be normalized using the equi-percentile method obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held).

Interview:

  • The total marks allotted for the Interview are 100.
  • Candidates who have been shortlisted in the main examination for CWE PO/MT-VII will subsequently be called for an Interview coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS and to be conducted by the Participating Organisations.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in the interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).

Provisional Allotment under IBPS PO

  • Depending on the vacancies to be filled in during the financial year 2017-18 based on the business needs of the Participating Organisations and as reported to IBPS, on the basis of merit-cum-preference candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organisations.
  • A candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC category will be treated as own merit candidates, who is selected on the same standard as applied to General category candidates.
  • The provisional allotment shall be done on the basis of final vacancies to be reported by the Participating Organizations.
  • Merely securing combined scores higher than the last allotted unreserved category candidate does not entitle a reserved category candidate for provisional allotment under the unreserved category.
  • The candidate had not availed any relaxation applicable for reserved category and will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and a minimum total score prescribed for unreserved category candidate for the online test and combined score higher than last allotted unreserved category candidate.
  • In the event of 2 or more candidates having obtained the same score, merit order is decided as per higher date of birth, as per the prevailing practice.
  • Issuance of the offer of appointment including terms and conditions, joining, formalities for verification etc. is the decision of the Participating Organisations and shall be final and binding.
  • IBPS reserves the right to cancel, reallot Organization-wise allocation/ change the process depending upon exigencies or otherwise.
  • The decision of IBPS in provisional allotment of Organisations shall be final and binding upon the selected candidates.
  • Provisionally allotted candidates may be posted anywhere in India/ outside India as per the discretion of the participating organization.
