OPSC 2023 Application Process

OPSC Age Restrictions

  • To take the test, you must be at least 21 years old.
  • General category applicants may be 32 years old, whereas SC and ST candidates can be 37 years old.

Educational Requirements

  • Entrants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution.
  • Those who completed their SSC/HSC with Odia as their language of education also are eligible to register for the recruitment test.
  • The candidate must be able to converse in Odia and read, write, and speak it.

Number of Tries:

  • General Category applicants are limited to four tries; however, SC/ST and PWD aspirants are not limited to any number of tries.
  • Aspirants from the financially and academically disadvantaged classes are allowed seven tries.

Exam Pattern

OPSC Prelims:

Two objective-type papers shall make up the Preliminary Test.

  • Because this is largely a screening test, the candidates’ preliminary results will not be factored towards their final ranks.
  • The paper, which would be worth 200 points, will be on General Studies. Paper-II is a 200 marks optional topic exam.

Main Examination:

  • This examination would’ve been broad in scope, and those who pass it would be eligible to proceed to the main examination.
  • Paper-I would be in Oriya and will be valued at 300 marks, according to the syllabus.
  • Paper-II, which would be valued at 300 marks, would be devoted to the study of English.
  • Paper III consists of a 200-point English-language essay.

Personality Test:

After passing the mains exam, all those who qualify will be asked to participate in a series of personality tests and interviews. The personality test is worth 250 points. Candidates’ mental quickness, logical abilities, critical thinking skills, diversity, and amount of interest are all evaluated in this round. Most significantly, candidates’ capacity to manage and make sensible decisions is evaluated in this round.

Aspirants who complete the Mains test would be called to an interview by the Board of Examiners of the OPSC. The interview portion of the test is worth 250 points. 1st Paper
