UP PCS 2024 Notification, Application Form, Exam Date- UPPSC Apply Online

UP PCS 2024: Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) releases the notification for the various vacancies in Provincial Civil Services (PCS). Candidates, who want to start their careers as civil servants, can apply for the UPPSC PCS examination. Every year UP PCS examination is held for the posts of civil, servants. Through this examination, candidates will be appointed to various departments under the state government of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates are advised to fill out their application form prior to due dates.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India.
  • The age of the candidates must lie between 21 years – 40 years.

Educational Qualification

The candidates must have a bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University or equivalent qualification up to the last date for receipt of application. It must be mentioned by the candidate in the relevant column of their application form.

For some posts, specific qualification is required which is shown in the table.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Degree in Arts with Sociology or Economics as a subject or Commerce/Law.
District Programme Officer Degree in Sociology or Social Science or Home Science or Social Work.
Senior Lecturer, DIET Post Graduate Degree with B.Ed.
District Probation Officer PG Degree in Psychology or Sociology or Social Work or any qualification equivalent thereto or Post Graduate Diploma in any Branch of Social Work from any recognized Institute of Social Work.
Designated Officer / Food Safety Officer
  • PG Degree in Chemistry as one of the subjects from a University established by law in India or a qualification recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto, or
  • At least one of the qualifications prescribed for Direct Recruitment to the post of Food Safety Officer is given as below: A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agricultural Science or Veterinary Sciences or Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology or Post Graduate Degree in Chemistry or Degree in Medicine from a recognized University, or any other equivalent/recognized qualification notified by the Central Government, Provided that no person who has any financial interest in the manufacture, import or sale of any article of food shall be appointed to be a Food Safety Officer
Statistical officer PG Degree in math or Mathematical Statistics or Statistics or Agricultural Statistics or equivalent qualification
Information Officer / District Information Officer / Script Writer / Feature Writers / Incharge, English (A) Essential qualification: (i) A Bachelor’s degree with Hindi as one of the subjects or a degree recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto. (ii) Diploma in Journalism or 5 Years of Journalistic experience.

(B) Preferential Qualification: (1) Experience in writing articles, scripts, and features in newspapers and magazines. (2) Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or any Institution recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto. Diploma in Music / Lighting / Acting / Direction etc. from any institute recognized by the Government.

Principals, Government Intermediate Colleges (For Boys or Girls) (i) A PG degree or a degree as equivalent thereto. (ii) L.T. Diploma of the Department of Education, Uttar Pradesh, or B.T.or B.Ed.or equivalent Degree of a University. At least three years teaching experience in High School or Intermediate Classes or Classes higher than above from a College or University.
Labour Enforcement Officer Bachelor’s degree with Economics or Sociology or commerce and PG Diploma or PG Degree in Law / Labour relation / Labour welfare / Labour Law / Commerce / Sociology / Social work / Social welfare / Trade Management / Personnel Management.

UP PCS 2024 Application Fees

For UR/OBC Exam fee Rs. 100/- + On-line processing fee Rs. 25/- Total = Rs. 125/-
For SC/ ST Exam fee Rs. 40/- + On-line processing fee Rs. 25/- Total = Rs. 65/-
For Physically Handicapped Exam fee NIL+ On-line processing fee Rs. 25/- Total = Rs. 25/-

Exam Pattern

UP PCS is divided into three categories

  • Preliminary
  • Mains
  • Interview
  • Candidates who qualify for the preliminary exam will be eligible to give examination from UP PCS 2024 Mains

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Exam

  • The Preliminary examination will constitute of two question papers.
  • The question paper will be objective in nature.
  • There will be negative marking i.e. 1/3rd marks will be deducted for every wrong response Preliminary examination.

Interview

    • The interview will be conducted with 100 marks.
    • The total marks including the Interview will be 1500 + 100 = 1600 Marks.
    • There is no such specific pattern and syllabus of the interview.
    • Candidates must be aware of their surroundings, state and should have a good knowledge of contemporary issues.
    • Candidates should be communicative during the interview and must keep their views openly before the interview board.

UP PCS 2024 Application Form

    • The UP PSC PCS application form will be available online mode on the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Public service Commission.
    • Candidates can visit the official portal of UPPSC is ‘up.nic.in’.
    • Candidates will have to enter the required details such as their name and address, valid email ID and phone number, etc in the application form.
    • Uploading the scanned images like photographs and signatures in the application form.
    • Remit the application fee via online payment through DR/CR Card/Net banking/challan.
    • The last step involves taking a printout of the application form and saving the registration number and the password generated online.

UP PCS 2024 Syllabus

PAPER – I General Studies-I (200 marks); Duration: 2hrs

  • Current events of national and international importance.
  • History of India and Indian National Movement.
  • Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
  • General Issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change- that do not require subject spec
  • Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues etc.
  • Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development Poverty Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
  • General Science

PAPER-II General Studies-II (200 marks); Duration: 2 hrs

  • General English up to Class X level.
  • General Hindi up to Class X level.
  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
  • General mental ability
  • Elementary Mathematics up to Class X level- Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics.

Current events of national and international importance: – candidates should have good knowledge about Current Events of National and International importance,

History of India and Indian National Movement: – In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have a synoptic view of nature and the character of the freedom movement. In History, emphasis should be on the broad understanding of economic, social, and political aspects of Indian history( growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence).

Indian and World Geography

Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World involves World Geography only general understanding related to the Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.

Indian Polity and Governance:- Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc:- In Indian Polity, candidate economic and culture, questions will be tested, country’s political system including Panchayati Raj and Community Development and some special features of Economic policy in India and Indian Culture.

Economic and Social Development

Poverty, Inclusion, Sustainable Development, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc:- The candidates will be tested with respect to problems and the relationship between Population, Urbanization, and Environment. General issues on Environmental ecology, Climate Change & Bio-diversity –which do not require subject specialization. Only General awareness of the subject will be required and expected from the candidates.

General Science: – Will cover general appreciation and understanding of Science including matters of everyday observation and experience, as may be expected of a well-educated person, who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.

ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS (UPTO CLASS X LEVEL)

Arithmetic:

  • Number systems: Natural Numbers, Integers, L.C.M. and H.C.F. of integers and their interrelationship Rational and irrational numbers, Real numbers, Divisors of an Integer, prime integers, etc.
  • Average
  • Percentage
  • Ratio and proportion
  • Profit and Loss
  • Speed, Time, and Distance
  • Simple and Compound interests
  • Work and Time.

Algebra:-

  • Factors of polynomials, L.C.M., and H.C.F. of polynomials and their interrelationship, simultaneous linear equations, quadratic equations & Remainder theorem.
  • Set Theory: Set null set, subsets and proper subsets of a set, operations (Union, Intersections, difference, symmetric difference) between sets, Venn diagram.

Geometry:

  • Constructions and theorems, rectangle, square, trapezium and circles, their perimeter and area, regarding the triangle
  • Volume and surface area of the sphere, right circular cylinder, right circular Cone, and Cube.

Statistics:- Collection of data, Classification of data, tabulation, cumulative frequency, frequency distribution.Representation of data – Measures of Central tendency: Arithmetic mean, Median and Mode, Pie chart, Bar diagram, histogram, frequency polygon, cumulative frequency curves (ogives)

GENERAL ENGLISH (UPTO CLASS X LEVEL)

  • Active Voice and Passive Voice.
  • Parts of Speech.
  • Vocabulary & usage.
  • Idioms and Phrases.
  • Transformation of Sentences.
  • Direct and Indirect Speech.
  • Punctuation and Spellings.
  • Words Meanings.
  • Fill in the Blanks.

UP PCS 2024 Result

  • The result of the preliminary examination will get disclosed after the commencement of the examination.
  • After qualifying for the preliminary examination, candidates will be eligible to apply and appear in the UP PCS 2024 Main examination.
  • Candidates will get the final result of the Main examination (written) and interview.
  • The result will publish on the official portal of UP PSC.

  1. Are you sure that this will be the pattern of UP PCS 2018? Will the mains be objective?
    I have heard that mains will have 4 paper of GS which will be subjective in nature. And the optional subjects will be reduced to 1. Please confirm as I need to prepare accordingly.

    Pl let me know about the qualifying critetion of the prelims under new pattern as the same is not being clear ? I mean earlier marks of Gk 1 was only considered for qualifying , rest for GK paper 2 one needs to have 33 questions to be correct . However this time it is not clear

    • uppsc is the name of organization which conducts the exam paper named as pcs, and while preparing for pcs you must not ask these type of silly doubts, better focus on exam

    I m B.E from telecomm(ECE) domain…am i eligible for up pcs?
    If yes then for which post…because i dont see any post from the list relevant for telecom graduate guy…almost for all post PG or degree from other streams like physic mathematic economic etc are required…dont see much for btech guys…
