Punjab Civil Services 2018 will be released soon. The candidates for a variety of administrative posts in different departments of the state government are recruited by Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). Candidates can either apply for the post of deputy collector or can join the police department as DSP. Punjab Civil Services 2018 Application Form

The application form will be available on the official website of the commission. To take part in the examination or the selection process candidates need to apply thru the application form. Applicants will provide all the details in the application form such as the name, address and the details of the educational qualification. Candidates will also upload the scanned photo and signature in the application form.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates need to be the citizen of India, Bhutan or Nepal.
  • The age of the applicants must not be more than 37 years and not less than the 21 years.
  • The applicants must have completed the graduation from any recognized institute.
  • Candidates must have attained the age of 28 years for the post of Deputy Superintendent Police in the Punjab Police Service.

Application Fee

  • There will be an application fee for the application fee.
  • The application fee can be paid thru the Credit card, debit card or net banking.

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Examination

  • It will consist of two papers.
  • Paper-I will be of the General Studies.
  • Paper –II will be of the Civil Services Aptitude Test.
  • It will commenced to screen the suitable candidates for the Main Examination.
  • Marks obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary Examination are not counted for the final ranking.
  • Candidates equal to thirteen times of the total number vacancies may qualify for the Main Competitive Examination.
  • All candidates are required to appear in both papers i.e. Paper I and Paper II including Ex-servicemen candidates of the Preliminary Competitive Examination.

Main Examination

  • The main examination will consist of written examination will be of descriptive nature and a viva voce (interview) test.
  • The written examination will consist of nine papers of conventional essay type in various subjects.
  • Candidates equal to 13 times the number of vacancies may be declared eligible to take Main Competitive Examination.

  • The main Examination is intended to assess the overall intellectual traits and depth of understanding of candidates rather than merely the range of their information and memory.
  • A total number of 8 questions will be in the question papers of optional subjects.
  • All questions will carry equal marks.
  • Each paper will be divided into two parts, viz. Part A and Part B, each part containing four questions.
  • The main competitive examination shall include optional subjects and compulsory.
  • Every candidate shall take two of the optional subjects and all the compulsory subjects, except for Ex-servicemen candidates, who are exempted from taking optional subjects.

Selection Process

  • Candidates will be selected based on their performance in Preliminary Competitive Examination; and Main Competitive Examination (written and viva voce).

Admit Card

  • The admit card will be available on the official website of PPSC.
  • For the Pre and Main examination, there will be separate admit card.
  • Admit Card will have the details of the examination such as date, timing and the venue of exam.
  • Candidates can download and take the printout of the admit card.
  • Keep the admit card with you for further use.

Result

  • The result of the examination will be announced respectively.
  • The Pre exam result will be announced first.
  • Candidates will get the result on the official website.
  • Candidates will be eligible to appear in the main examination, those, who qualify the pre-examination.
  • Candidates will get the result of the main examination, after the commencement of the main written exam and the interview.
  • The final result will also be on the official website.

Punjab Civil Services 2018: Important Points

  • No candidate shall be eligible to appear in the viva voce test unless he obtains 45 percent marks (including at least 33 per cent marks in Punjabi (in Gurmukhi Script) in the aggregate of all subjects.
  • The Commission may at its discretion lower this percentage to not below 40 percent, provided that if at any main competitive examination a sufficient number of candidates do not obtain 45 percent marks in the aggregate, but the percentage for the language paper i.e. Punjabi in Gurmukhi Script shall remain unchanged.
