Eligibility Criteria

  • The age of a candidate must be between 21 and 32 years.
  • The maximum age limit for SC/ST/MBC category candidates is 37 years.

TNPSC Group 1 Exam 2023: Application Form

Register for TNPSC one-time registration at tnpscexams.in. Login with the ID and password and Sign in. Click on ‘Current Application’ then ‘Apply Now’ button and select TNPSC Group 1 Services. Enter your educational qualifications and other asked details. Confirm declaration by clicking on “I agree to finally submit my online application”. Select payment mode to make payment. Print your TNPSC group 1 application for future reference after making the payment successfully. The one-time registration fee is ₹150 and the prelims exam fee is Rs. 100. The selected candidates in the preliminary exam once again need to register for the mains exam by submitting an online application with a fee of ₹200.

Selection Process

  • 1st Stage: A prelims exam will be conducted and the marks scored in the prelims exam are considered to qualify for the main exam only.
  • 2nd Stage: The main exam carries 3 papers and only 1 out of 50 candidates will go through to give the mains exam.
  • 3rd Stage: An interview to be held for the candidates, who clear the main exam, and the merit list is prepared considering marks of the main exam and interview together.

Exam Pattern

  • The prelims exam carries 300 marks for 200 objective-type questions.
  • It is an objective paper and of a qualifying nature only.
  • The exam will select candidates for the main exam in the ratio of 1:50.
  • The main exam carries 3 descriptive papers for 250 marks each.
  • There will be no negative marks in both the prelims and main exams.
  • The applicant should qualify in each stage to give an interview and it carries 100 marks.

  • It is the very toughest exam compared to the group 1 exam.
  • The basic per month salary of the TNPSC Group 1 officer starts at ₹56100 (TA, DA, and HRA will be extra) and can go on to reach ₹177500 for a cabinet secretary.
  • The age limit is 21 to 32 years.
  • There is a further 5 years relaxation in the age limit for SC/ST/BC/MBC category candidates.
