BPT Admission 2024: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a four-and-a-half-year undergraduate degree divided into 8 semesters of theoretical knowledge and the last semester reserved for the mandatory  Internship, that focuses on the science of physical movement, including exercise, messaging, and electro-physical treatment. That is on the university, to whether perform admission to the BPT program based on merit or an entrance exam. Some universities have already begun teaching, while others have yet to have examinations.

Eligibility for BPT Admission

  • The candidate must have a 10+2 qualification, in other words, the candidate must have passed 10th and 12th from a recognized or affiliated Board.
  • The candidate must have scored at least 50% in the 12th In some cases, the minimum percentage is 45%, and there are also relaxations in the minimum percentage for ST, SC, or OBC categories.
  • In some of the Universities, there is an age limitation which generally is 18 to 22 years.
  • There are some universities and colleges which required the domicile status of the Candidate as there are some seats reserved for the Permanent Residents of the state.

Procedure for BPT Admission

Filling of Application Form

the first step of the application process is to fill the application form of the university or college you want to get admission to. In case you don’t have your final mark-sheet available yet as the boards have just released the results and due to the pandemic protocol there can be some delay in getting the physical copy, you can upload the current result and documents for now and can represent the originals at the time of counseling.

Entrance Examination

The entrance examination is the second phase in the procedure. The candidate must take an admission exam administered by the institution or college to which he or she has applied. The university or college will announce the date of the Entrance Examination on their official website or sometimes through email to each candidate. Some of the Universities and colleges don’t conduct their entrance examination but rather accept NEET-UG scores for entrance.

Admit cards for the entrance examination are provided by the competent authorities or institutions 7-10 days before the examination day, and that includes information such as the time, location, and other pertinent details.

Entrance Examination Result

In the admissions process, the Entrance Examination Result is the most important factor. The examination result will determine whether or not you are admitted to the relevant institution or university.

BPT Admission Cut-off

Following the announcement of results, colleges and universities publish a marks cut-off list, which specifies the range of marks required for admission to that specific institution or university. Colleges and institutions typically give grade cut-off lists of 2-3 marks. The cutoff list for Un-reserved categories differs from other categories due to the reservation of ST, SC, and OBC at various colleges.

Counselling Process

At the counseling rounds, the original documents of the candidate are verified by the college or university. After the verification candidates get their seats finalized in the respective college or university.

Brief Syllabus Overview for BPT

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) program is aimed to suit the requirements and goals of students who are interested in physiotherapy. The course focuses on both practical and theoretical aspects of the program. The optional sections in this course are designed to bring forth a variety of abilities and methods that students desire to acquire.

First-Year

Subjects to be generally taught in the 1st year of the course are Anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, sociology, biochemistry, and some general subjects like basic nursing, and English.

Second Year

The subjects to be taught in the second year of the course are Pathology, microbiology, electrotherapy, and some interesting and practical subjects like First aid and CPR, Exercise therapy, Introduction to treatment, and the Indian Constitution.

Third Year

The subjects that are taught in the third year of the course are General medicine, surgery, clinical training, orthopedics and sports physiotherapy, and traumatology with some allied therapies.

Fourth Year

The subjects that are taught in the fourth year of the course are Neurology and neurosurgery, neurophysiology, professional ethics, administration, and community medicine along with a research project.

9th Semester

The last semester of the course is dedicated to the mandatory physical internship. This practical internship will make the candidates friendly with the practical aspects and ground zero realities of the profession as the medical profession is all about a perfect blending of practical and theoretical knowledge.
