NID 2024: National Institute of Design is one of the popular institutes having 3 campuses situated in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar & Bengaluru. Based on the performance in Design Aptitude Test (DAT), Studio Test & personal interview, the applicants will get admission. On the basis of a two-stage competitive test i.e. DAT (Prelims) and DAT (Mains), admission in all of the design courses will be done. After the successful completion of both stages, the authority will declare the final merit list. Applicants whose names are in the final merit list will be shortlisted for admission into NID campuses. Candidates have to report along with the necessary documents to the respective NID campus. Documents should be produced in the original.

Eligibility Criteria

For B.Des/GDPD

  • The upper age limit will be 20 years as on 30 June.
  • 3 years of age relaxation for OBC-NCL/SC/ST and 5 years for PwD candidates.
  • Passed 10+2 qualifying examination in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, etc.) from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent is required to apply.

For M.Des

  • The maximum age limit to apply is 30 years as on 30 June. 3 years of age relaxation for OBC-NCL/SC/ST and 5 years for PwD candidates.
  • A Bachelor’s degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 10+2, from any university or institute recognized by law in India is required to apply. Or
  • A Bachelor’s degree or 3 years in any specialization, under the 10+2 system. Or
  • A Full-time Diploma of 4 years in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 10+2 system.

How to Apply:

Step 1: Sign up Registration

  • Candidates applying for the BDes/GDPD or MDes Programme are required to sign up online before proceeding to fill the application form at http://admissions.nid.edu.
  • Candidates have to provide a valid email address. ensure that email id & mobile number is active till 31 August.
  • After Successful sign up an email will be sent to the registered email ID.
  • Candidate login to account using email ID and providing the date of birth during sign-up.

Step 2: Fill in the online Application Form:

  • Candidate Login and proceed to the step-2 Application form.
  • Fill in all the required details.
  • After filling all the details, click “Save and Proceed” to go to the Upload document section.

Applicants of MDes Programme:

  • For the applicants applying only in one discipline of MDes Programme.
  • Such applicants are required to appear in DAT Prelims comprising of the CDAT (Common Design Aptitude Test). The duration of the DAT prelims will be 2.5 hours.

For the applicants applying only in two disciplines of MDes Programme.

Such candidates are required to appear in DAT prelims comprising of:

  1. The CDAT( Common design Aptitude Test) and One-domain specific test if the two disciplines fall under the same faculty stream. The total duration of the DAT prelims will be 2.5 hrs.
  2. The CDAT and Two domain-specific tests if the two disciplines fall under different Faculty streams. the total duration of DAT prelim will be 4.5 years.

Step 3: Upload your documents

  • The candidate must upload a scanned photograph as per the instructions. All Photographs must be in JPG/JPEG format and under 100KB in size. It must be a colored photograph.
  • Candidate must upload a scanned signature as per the instructions. All the signature files must be in JPG/JPEG format and under 100KB in size.
  • Candidates applying under the OBC-NCL category are required to upload their valid OBC-NCL certificate issued by a competent authority. The date of the issue of Certificate should be 1st April or later.
  • Candidates applying under the SC/ST category are required to upload their valid SC/ST certificate issued by a competent authority. The date of the issue of Certificate should be 1st April or later. The certificate must be in JPG/JPEG format and not exceeding 150 KB.
  • Candidates applying under the persons with disability (PwD) category are required to upload their valid Disability certificate.
  • After uploading all the documents please click save and process.

  • The application fee can be deposited through credit card/ debit card and Demand Draft.
  • The demand draft should be made in favor of “All India Management Association” payable at New Delhi.

Exam Pattern

  • The exam will be conducted through offline mode.
  • The whole question paper will be of 100 marks.
  • DAT prelims will be of about 3 hours.
  • The exam will be asked in the English language only.
  • There is no negative marking in the exam.
  • The candidates who will qualify in DAT prelims will be shortlisted for the DAT Mains exam.

Admit Card

  • The admit card will be available for the candidates on the official website.
  • There will be information on the Admit card such as candidates roll number, Name, Exam Center, Date and Time, etc.
  • Visit the official site to download the admit card of the NID examination.
  • Candidates must have to bring the admit card to the examination hall.

NID 2024 Result

  • The result will be provided for the candidates in February.
  • Through the official portal/site of NID, candidates can check their result/marks.
  • On the basis of the candidate’s performance and their marks, a merit list will be declared.
  • The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the candidate’s marks in the final week of May.

NID 2024 Cut Off

  • Cut off marks implies here the marks obtained by the last candidate in the 1st merit list.
  • However, marks relaxation facility is given to reserved category candidates.
  • For OBC –NCL, it is 10% less than cutoffs of General category
  • For ST, 20% less than the cutoffs of General category
  • SC category, it is 20% less than the cutoffs of General category
  • Physically Handicapped candidates, it is 30% less than the cutoffs of General category

NID 2024: Important Points

  • The application form will be available online mode.
  • You will be notified by mail on your registered email id.
  • Candidates have to send the printout of the application form in case of payment through the demand draft.
  • It is mandatory to translate the school documents even if they are in the native language
  • There is no procedure for making payment through the demand draft.
  • There is no attempt limit to appear for this exam except you are eligible to appear in all aspects.
  • Applicants can apply for a maximum of two disciplines under M.Des Programme.
  • NIOS students apply for the NID exam.
