If you are planning to study in Ireland then you need to know the procedure of student visa for that along with immigration rules and regulations. The student may have to attend PI, although it is not compulsory.

English Test Scores

The minimum English test scores needed for study in Ireland is IELTS – 5.0 and TOEFL – 6.1

How to apply

  1. Fill up the online application form.
  2. Take out the print out of declaration and has to be signed by the applicant.
  3. After you signed declaration, it has to submit along with supporting documents to the nearest VFS office.
  4. All the applicants are requested to submit copies of all pages of passport (even the previous or cancelled passports also) as instructed by Irish Embassy. The applicant has to submit copies of all the documents that will be returned back at the time of collection.

Processing Time

In D type visas it may take 8 weeks to process your visa. The visa officer can ask for additional documents as per his requirement. Hence it is good to apply for visa earlier.

Study Visa Types

To study in Ireland there are two types of visa needed. First one is C type visa which will be applied for if you wish to study in Ireland for less than 3 months. The second one is D type visa which is for those students whose course is longer more than 3 months.

Visa Fees

Paying college Fees for Visa

You can apply for student’s visa in two ways

  • Pay full time course fees and apply (refundable in case of rejection)
  • Apply for visa via AIP

Required Documents

  • Acceptance letter from a recognized college or university in Ireland.
  • The course has to be a full time and weekly 15 hours minimum study time.
  • Previous academic degrees, certificates, mark sheets etc.
  • Evidence of fully paid fees and enough funds (€7,000) for starting period of stay.
  • Private medical insurance policy.
  • If you have any gaps in education background then satisfactory explanation for that.
  • Confirmation that you will come back to your own country after you leave Ireland.
  • Some other documents, such as bank statements, resume, work experience, bank loan approval, CA statement, statement of purpose etc.
  • The above mention documents are just a sample list not a full and final list of required documents.

Immigration History

You have to provide complete details of all previous visa applications made by you for any country, rejections of applications etc along with application.
